Envy m7 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings,

I have had my Envy m7 for a couple months and I love it. I noticed the mute light stopped working, but I am not sure when. Also, I am not 100% I have 64-bit Windows 10. I looked at previous forums and they recommend updating the driver software, but I could not find a post linking to Conextant ISST audio drivers. Also, is that the proper remedy? I didn't want to uninstall without a clear solution. Thanks for your time!

Hi,

The product number is fine :generic:

Try the following.

Download the Conexant HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78853.exe

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Conexant device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78501-79000/sp78642.exe

When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click on the Conexant installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again and let windows fully load for a few minutes before checking.

Hi,

Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your m7 notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information.

Product Number: W2K88UA#ABA

Not sure what the Model number is, because it is not listed when I press fn + esc.....I have Product name: HP ENVY m7 Notebook

Also, I had to reboot in order to access HP Support Assistant and now the mute light is on permanently.

I did step one and it performed an install, and asked for a reboot. On reboot the light works properly. Thanks for the help!
