Hi @rishavdas24
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing crackling or distorted audio coming from your HP Omen laptop speakers, which can be caused by several factors. This can be related to software or hardware issues, such as driver problems, system settings, or even physical damage to the speakers themselves.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Restart the Laptop
- Sometimes, a simple restart can fix audio issues by resetting the system's processes. So, make sure to restart your laptop and see if the issue persists.
2. Check Audio Output Settings
Ensure the correct audio output is selected:
- Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar.
- Select Open Sound Settings.
- Under Output, make sure your Omen speakers (or the appropriate audio device) are selected.
3. Update Audio Drivers
Outdated or corrupt audio drivers can cause crackling sounds. Follow these steps to check and update your audio drivers:
Open Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
Expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section:
- Right-click on your audio driver (usually named something like Realtek High Definition Audio or Conexant depending on your laptop model) and select Update driver.
Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software":
- If a new driver is found, it will automatically update. Restart your laptop if prompted.
If updating through Device Manager doesn’t work, visit the HP support website or the audio chipset manufacturer’s website (like Realtek) to download the latest drivers.
4. Disable Sound Enhancements
Sound enhancements or effects can sometimes cause issues, including crackling sounds.
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
- Under the Playback tab, right-click on your speakers or headphones, then click Properties.
- Go to the Enhancements tab.
- Check the box that says Disable all enhancements.
- Click Apply and then OK.
Check if the crackling sound stops after disabling enhancements.
5. Change the Audio Format
If the audio format is incompatible or set too high, it may cause crackling sounds.
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
- Go to the Playback tab and select your speakers or headphones.
- Click Properties, then go to the Advanced tab.
- Change the Default Format to a different sample rate (try 24-bit, 44100 Hz or 16-bit, 48000 Hz).
- Click Apply and OK.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
