Hi @mnyx

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your HP Pavilion 13-bb0200nd requires the Intel Smart Sound Technology (High Definition DSP) audio driver to restore sound. The correct driver can be downloaded from HP’s official support page for your model.

Step-by-step guidance to bring audio back

Visit the official HP driver page for your model
Go to the HP support site for the Pavilion Laptop 13-bb0200nd here:
HP Pavilion Laptop 13-bb0200nd Drivers & Software

Select your operating system
Choose Windows 11 (64-bit) to ensure the correct driver set is displayed.

Locate the audio driver
Under the “Driver-Audio” section, look for Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller or Realtek/Intel Audio Driver. This package includes the Intel High Definition DSP driver that matches the hardware ID you shared (VEN_8086 & DEV_0222).

Download and install

  • Save the driver package to your system.
  • Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Restart your laptop once installation completes to allow Windows to reinitialize the audio stack.

Verify audio functionality

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select “Sound settings.”
  • Ensure your playback device (e.g., “Speakers – Realtek Audio” or “Intel Smart Sound Technology”) is set as default.
  • Test with a sample audio file or system sound.

Additional checks if audio is still missing

  • Windows Update: Run Windows Update after installing the driver to pull any cumulative patches.
  • Device Manager: Open Device Manager → “Sound, video and game controllers.” Confirm that Intel Smart Sound Technology and Realtek Audio devices show without warning icons.
  • HP App: Use the HP App (replacement for HP Smart) to run Diagnose & Fix. This tool can automatically detect and repair audio driver conflicts.
  • BIOS update: On the same HP driver page, check if a BIOS update is available for your model. Updating BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware initialization issues after major Windows updates.

Key considerations

  • Driver source: Always use HP’s official driver page for your exact model to avoid mismatched Intel packages.
  • Restart after install: Skipping the restart can leave the DSP controller inactive.
  • Playback device selection: Windows may default to a disconnected output after updates, so manually reselecting the correct device is important.

By following these steps, your Pavilion’s audio should come back to life with clarity. Would you like me to also walk you through using the HP App’s Diagnose & Fix tool step by step, so you can confirm the driver installation worked smoothly?

This url works: https://support.hp.com/nl-nl/drivers/hp-pavilion-laptop-pc-13-bb0000/model/38321555?sku=39Z36EA&seri...

i selected windows 11 hs2 and now i can search for the driver. But  i have done this many times and downloaded the following:

  • Realtek High-Definition-audiodriver (HD)

  • 6.0.9183.1 Rev.C
  • 409.2 MB
  • 27 aug. 2021

    File name:  sp131797
    installing it to: c:\SWSetup\SP131797

it extract the package and start installing. After that a CMD screen opens and start pinging :

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

The CMD screen stays open and nothing happens.
    Also audio still not working:

So what i did was adding the driver manually but im not sure which to choose:

    realtek

    OR

    mnyx_5-1765439996200.png
    mnyx_6-1765440032406.png

etc etc. I tried many of them, but nothing is working. When i do a hardware check via BIOS, i can hear sound, so the hardware is not broken.

@Hawks_Eye,

I fixed it 🙂 🙂

The problem was the incompability with Windows 11 build 26200
Solution:
 i went to https://catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=INTELAUDIO%5CDSP_CTLR_DEV_A0C8
and downloaded:

Intel(R) Corporation - System - 10.29.0.12181Windows 11 Client, version 24H2 and later, Servicing DriversDrivers (Other Hardware)3-6-202510.29.0.12181

After that i expanded the CAB file and via devmgmt.msc i manually searched for the driver. And it worked 😄

Great succes.

Hi @mnyx

That’s excellent work—you really dug in and solved it methodically. Expanding the CAB and manually pointing Device Manager to the correct driver package is a reliable way to handle these compatibility gaps, especially with newer Windows 11 builds like 26200.

Your persistence paid off, and this step-by-step path is a great reference for anyone else running into the same DSP driver issue after upgrading to Windows 11 24H2 builds.

Take care and have a great day!
