Since upgrading to win 10, I've had no sound on my DV9827. I have to use a bluetooth device. Please help me.

This is a very old machine, could be 12 years old by now. Did you check available drivers before upgrade machine to Windows 10 . Please run Windows updates few times and hope it will find the right drivers for you ? Few days ago, I rebuilt one of my machine (not that old of your machine) and Windows 10 could find heaps of drivers to update as shown

Hi, @2good2go

That happens quite often when you upgrade that model series to W10.

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to try reinstalling the Vista driver.  That is the only driver available.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp40001-40500/sp40170.exe

If the auto install method doesn't work, there should be a device listed in the device manager labeled as a multimedia audio controller.  That would be the audio device in need of the driver.

Please post the hardware ID for the multimedia audio controller, and I will give you the directions to see if you can manually install the driver instead.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device...

Thanks; but wouldn't that mean I must reinstall Vista, or Win 7?

I will try to find the multimedia audio controller hardware ID--if I can only figure how to find it.

Blessings,
