PROBLEM :

I had to do a clean reinstall of windows 10 as there were various issues starting to evolve slow start up, running slow, programs not working properly you get the idea so tried a repair and the only result i got was a blue flickering screen and nothing. blue screen i thought that's it gone but managed to reformat and eventually got windows back on and running, however because of where i do my hobby music i use earphones or earbuds the 3.5 jack was working before i did the install now the computer does not even recognise the earphones tried going in to sound to adjust  but all that is there is the speaker no headphones show up but the headphone jack icon is there but it might as well not be as i cant do anything with it i tried all sorts of fixes that i found on YouTube but nothing works, oh an indecently the USB socket on the same side as the earphone jack has also stopped working how can i fix this, as we are still in lockdown i can not take it to a shop

Thanking anyone who can help

@bountybar

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Step 1: Check the microphone hardware
  • Step 2: Update the audio driver
  • Step 3: Run the Audio Check in HP Support Assistant
  • Step 4: Use the Troubleshooting tool
  • Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04474731 Resolving Headphones and Headset Problems (Windows 😎
  • The document might say windows 8 but the troubleshooting steps for 10 as well.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
