HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa-0000 (8Z8P7AV)

It took me ages to find out, why my HP Envy cannot record audio in a sports hall. I tried different setups, I purchased five different microphones and tried the built-in. At home my test setup always was fine, but when I start to livestream a basketball game - all mics only provide quirking squeezing fractals of sound.

The solution is quite simple: Open "MyHP" on the Laptop, go to your device and then to the audio section. In the microphone/input section DISABLE "KI NOISE REDUCTION".

I hope this solution helps others HP users.

@HP: Can you integrate a solution, where streaming software as OBS Broadcaster becomes profiles/logics that the KI Noise reduction is disabled by default?

Hi @Matt567

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing your solution! It sounds like you’ve run into a common issue with noise-canceling or noise-reduction features that can mess with microphone input, especially in environments like sports halls where there’s a lot of background noise.

For anyone else facing a similar issue with their HP Envy, here’s the solution based on your experience:

  1. Open "MyHP" on the laptop.
  2. Navigate to the Device section and then to the Audio settings.
  3. In the Microphone/Input section, disable "KI Noise Reduction".

This will likely prevent the microphone from filtering out important sounds like voices or other low-volume audio, which can make it sound like you’re only hearing weird, distorted noise.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
