Hello,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your microphone is not appearing or working on the HP EliteBook x360 G6, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Step 1: Check Device Manager

  1. Open Device Manager:

    • Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager" from the menu.
  2. Locate and Enable the Microphone:

    • Expand the "Audio inputs and outputs" section.
    • Look for your microphone device. If it is listed but disabled, right-click on it and select "Enable."

Step 2: Update Audio Drivers

  1. Visit HP Support:

    • Go to the HP Support page and enter your device model (HP EliteBook x360 G6) to find the latest drivers.
  2. Download and Install Audio Driver:

    • Download the latest audio driver for your device and install it by following the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Check Sound Settings

  1. Open Sound Settings:

    • Right-click the sound icon in the system tray and select "Sounds."
  2. Verify Microphone is Set as Default Device:

    • Go to the "Recording" tab, make sure your microphone is listed and set as the default device. If not, right-click it and choose "Set as Default Device."
  3. Adjust Levels:

    • Select the microphone, click "Properties," and go to the "Levels" tab to ensure the volume is turned up enough to detect sound.

Step 4: Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Access Troubleshooter:

    • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
  2. Run Audio Troubleshooter:

    • Run the "Recording Audio" troubleshooter and follow the instructions to detect and resolve issues.

Step 5: Check Privacy Settings

  1. Open Privacy Settings:

    • Go to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Microphone."
  2. Allow Apps to Access Microphone:

    • Ensure that "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on. Also, check that specific apps have permission to use the microphone.

If the microphone still doesn't appear or work after these steps, it might be necessary to contact HP Support for further assistance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
