I have an HP Spectre 360 that I purchased about a week ago. I've had some problems with the touchscreen and the audio. I posted the touchscreen issues in a separate post so I won't repeat that here but here's what's going on with the audio. Whenever I play music or a video that registers high notes, I get a very loud and terrible buzzing sound out of the audio. I used both Windows (I have 10) and HP's troubleshooting software and I tried every single thing in the list, everything I could with audio drivers and BIOS options and restarts and tests everything else. I've speant about 4 hours trying things to fix it and nothing has worked yet. It seems most of the stuff I looked at was troubleshooting for no sound at all. I have sound but it buzzes a lot. If I reduce the volume to 60% or so, it might go away but I don't want to have to do that. I was thinking these Bang and Olufsen speakers were supposed to be pretty good. I don't know if this is a hardware issue and I need to use my warranty or if maybe there is something I haven't tried yet. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @MongooseTom,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums again. 🙂 Good day!:) How are you doing? 🙂 I read and reviewed your response.  I understand that you have audio issues with the unit. I am delighted to assist you with that.

Stupendous effort on diagnosing the issue correctly. Splendid troubleshooting.:) It is always a privilege to work with customers that have superlative technical skills. 🙂 Great job on connecting headsets to isolate the issue. As there is no buzzing sound from the headset and it happens only with the speakers on the unit, it is clear as daylight that the issue is hardware related and the speakers need to be replaced.

Please  contact HP phone support by visiting this link: http://hp.com/contacthp and if the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should cover repairs for the unit.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you.:)

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

After messing with the Bang and Olufsen equalizer, it is not as bad but it still happens a lot. Am I just expecting too much out of these speakers or is this a real problem for other people. Does anybody have any positive or negative experiences with the audio quality out of their HP Spectre 360? I'm just trying to figure out what I should do. I don't want to return the computer for another one and end up with the exact same sound quality. But if there are those of you with HP Spectres that never have this problem, that will let me know that maybe there's a problem with the speakers in mine that can be fixed.

Hi @MongooseTom,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand you are having audio quality issues on your HP Spectre 360. I'll try my best to assist you with this.

Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,

Let's try with a headphone and check if you hear the buzzing noise on the headphones as well. If you hear the buzzing noise on the headphones. I would suggest you try and uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers.

If the issue persists even after uninstalling the drivers, before we come to any conclusion that it's a hardware or software. You can perform a system recovery which would set your computer back to the factory shipped settings.

Note: Please remember to backup your data as this will wipe off everything.

Link to perform a system recovery using the partition: Click here

If the recovery fails, please contact HP phone support to order a set of recovery media. Please fill in the product details to get the tech support number.

What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.

If there is anything else that I can help you with just let me know.

When I use headphones, the problems goes away. It is only when I'm using the laptop speakers themselves. In fact, I can play the music much louder with headphones and no buzz at all but even at 70% volume, I still get buzz from the speakers when playing music or even in people's voices sometimes on youtube or that sort of thing. Although, I did uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers previous to trying the headphones thing and it didn't seem to make a difference.

Since the problem didn't persist with the headphones, do you think I still need to do a system recovery?

Thanks for the help.

I haven't had any touchscreen issues all day today so I'm hoping maybe one of those fixes (Bios update, graphics driver, etc.) did the trick but I'm going to really work it to make sure before I talk to them. Hopefully it's narrowed down to just the audio. Thanks again for all your help.
