Hi everyone,

I'm a teacher and I've been using my new laptop in my online classes with Google Meet or Zoom.

What I often do in my online lessons is to play some audio from a presentation tool or video during a lesson.

As a language teacher, I play an audio and pause it and ask questions to my students about it and resume my lesson. This is not possible now with my new Hp laptop as students can only hear me in Microphone array mode and can not hear the audio or video I'm playing on my laptop. I always have to switch to stereo mix to play the audio and during that period students can't hear me and I need to switch back to mic. array again to make myself heard again. This is very exhausting thing to do during a lesson.

The strange thing is I didn't have this problem with my previous Hp G3 250 laptop. In microphone array mode my students could hear me and the video or audio I was playing without a problem in my Hp G3 250.

Tried changing lots of preferences in audio settings and uninstallling audio drivers and reinstalling them. Nothing changed.

Help much appreciated.

Update:

A workaround solution is using headphones. When I plugged my headphones into the headphone jack, I was able to transmit both my own voice and the sound of the video to the students in the session in the microphone array mode. But I'd rather be able to do this without the need for headphones.

@wutheringheight

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you tried with different apps such as Zoom or Skype?
  • Are you able to see Start sharing options in apps?

Workaround: From where you can share your computer screen but not sound.
Under Start Sharing options you will see share computer sound options and enable the share computer sound options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
