@dolphine2u,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Notebook - 15 has lost its sound device, you can try these steps to restore it.

Check if the Sound Device is Disabled

  1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  3. If your audio device is missing, go to View > Show hidden devices.
  4. If your device appears but is disabled (has a down-arrow icon), right-click it and select Enable.

Reinstall the Audio Driver

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  3. Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) and select Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop—Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

Download and Install Audio Drivers from HP

  1. Go to HP’s official support website.
  2. Enter your laptop's model number and go to the Drivers & Software section.
  3. Download and install the latest audio driver (e.g., Realtek or AMD Audio).
  4. Restart your laptop.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  3. Click Run next to Playing Audio and follow the prompts.

Check Audio Services

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Look for Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
  3. Right-click each and select Restart.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
