HP Pavilion Aero Laptop 13-bg0000 (982P6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop's built-in microphone and camera aren't being recognized.
I have an HP Pavilion Aero Laptop 13-bg.
I can connect an external microphone via the 3.5mm jack or a webcam via USB, and they all work fine.
Sound comes out of the speakers normally.
When I launch the standard Windows "Camera" app, I get error code 0xA00F4244 and the camera isn't detected. According to the pre-installed "HP Support Assistant," Realtek(R) Audio (the default microphone) is not connected.

There's a camera shutter at the top of the screen, and it's open.
I tried troubleshooting, but nothing changed.
I can't hear any audio even with the microphone test in Settings.
Permissions for the microphone and camera are also enabled.
The microphone array setting in the Advanced Sound settings screen was disabled, so I enabled it and restarted the computer, but it still doesn't work.
I tried updating the driver using Windows Update, but there was no update available. I tried downloading it from HP's official website, but I couldn't find Realtek(R) Audio. I couldn't find anything related to the camera. (Maybe I'm just ignorant.)
When I looked in Device Manager, there was no camera item at all. There was a Realtek, but even restoring the driver didn't change anything.

What can I do to get the camera and microphone recognized (connected?) and usable? It might be a physical (hardware) problem, so I could contact the manufacturer, but I'd like to solve it myself if possible. My knowledge is limited, so I may be doing something off-topic, but I'd appreciate any advice. (I don't know anything about drivers, especially.)

I used a translator, so this might be difficult to read. Sorry.

Hi @HK-100,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your Pavilion Aero 13-bg’s built-in camera and microphone are not being detected, while external devices work fine. Let’s try a few steps to get them working again:

Check Privacy & Function Keys

Ensure the camera shutter is open (you already confirmed).

On some HP models, pressing Fn + F8 (or F9) toggles the camera/mic – try pressing it once.

Confirm camera & microphone permissions are enabled in Settings > Privacy & Security.

Device Manager Scan

Press Windows + X → Device Manager.

From the top menu, select Action > Scan for hardware changes to see if the Camera or “Microphone Array” reappears.

Reinstall Drivers

Go to HP Support website.

Enter your model (HP Pavilion Aero 13-bg).

Download and install the latest Chipset, Audio (Realtek), and BIOS updates.

Restart the laptop and check if the devices appear.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Restart the PC, press F2 repeatedly → select Component Tests > Camera and Microphone.

If they fail, it may confirm a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.
