Dear

I have issues with microphone. It is possible that there is no built in microphone (audio has Realtek(R))? My notebook is very recent so this would be strange.

Thx for your help

Hi @T4Marleen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand your concern. It would be very unusual for a modern HP laptop like the HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp2000 (6Z604AV) not to include a built-in microphone, especially when you're trying to complete important work.

Let me reassure you: your laptop does have a built-in microphone.

🎤 Microphone Details for Your Model

According to specifications, your laptop includes:

  • Integrated dual-array digital microphones
  • HP True Vision 1080p Full HD webcam
  • Realtek® audio chipset
  • Headphone/microphone combo jack (for external mics)

So yes, your notebook does have a built-in microphone, and it should work across apps like Zoom, Filmora, and Wavepad.

What You Can Do Now

1. Check Privacy Settings

Go to:

  • Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
  • Make sure Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone are turned ON

2. Set the Correct Input Device

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar → Sound settings
  • Under Input, select Internal Microphone (Realtek)

3. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers

Download the latest Realtek audio drivers from HP: 🔗 HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp2000 (6Z604AV) | HP® Support.

4. Run HP Audio Check

Use HP’s built-in diagnostic tool to test and fix microphone issues: 🔗 Fix Sound Issues | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
