Hi @Sai231,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 14-Dv0000 microphone stopped working after a recent Windows 11 update and the installation of K7 Security Antivirus, and you are seeing suspicious messages, there could be several factors causing the issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix the problem:

Basic Troubleshooting

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
  • Make sure that "Microphone access" and "Let apps access your microphone" are both turned on.
  • Scroll down and ensure that the apps you want to use the microphone with have permission.

Check Sound Settings:

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."
  • Under "Input," make sure the correct microphone is selected.
  • Click on "Device properties" and check if the microphone is enabled and the volume is turned up.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting "Device Manager."
  • Expand the "Audio inputs and outputs" section.
  • Right-click on your microphone and select "Update driver."
  • Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the prompts.
  • If the problem started after a driver update, you can try rolling back the driver:
    • Right-click on the microphone device, select "Properties," go to the "Driver" tab, and click "Roll Back Driver" if available.

Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on your microphone and select "Uninstall device."
  • Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the audio driver.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates and install any that are available.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Sai231,

Please find the next set of steps below.

Check for Conflicts with K7 Security Antivirus:

  • Some antivirus software can interfere with microphone permissions and functionality.
  • Open K7 Security Antivirus and look for any settings related to device control or privacy that might be blocking the microphone.
  • Temporarily disable the antivirus software and check if the microphone works. If it does, consider configuring the antivirus settings to allow microphone access.

Additional Steps

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select "Additional troubleshooters," then find and run the "Recording Audio" troubleshooter.

Check for Malware:

  • Run a full system scan using K7 Security Antivirus or another trusted antivirus software to check for malware that might be affecting the microphone.

Reset Windows Audio Services:

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find and restart the following services:
    • Windows Audio
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)

Further Steps

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider performing a system restore to revert your laptop to a point before the problem started:

  1. Perform a System Restore:
    • Go to Settings > System > About.
    • Click on "System protection" on the right panel.
    • Click "System Restore" and follow the prompts to choose a restore point from before the issue started.

If the issue persists after trying all these steps, it might be a deeper software conflict or a hardware issue. In that case, contacting HP phone support for further assistance as repair might be necessary.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
