Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello. I have an issue with my HP laptop. firstly my built in microphone is too weak to have zoom conferences or any video conferences. i have increased its' volume to max and increased the boost to 30 hz, tried any variation of background noise decrease, tried to reinstall drivers and updated windows to the latest possible version. i have tried to solve this by connecting an external microphone (from silver line) but the laptop does not recognize it.

I don't know about your notebook exactly. I have a x360 14-ba075TX which had a similar problem. The microphone was there but the recorded sound could barely be heard even when I shouted. This was a common problem with all apps like Skype, Zoom, Teams etc. anything that required the microphone. After exhausting all options on the HP support community I eventually found the solution on YouTube. In this model the camera and microphone board is at the top above the LCD panel. The microphones have some small waterproof covers which should not cover the microphone front. However, on opening the laptop and examining the microphone this cover was found obscuring the microphone so only a muffled sound was reaching it. I redid the covers and now the microphone works perfectly. I can understand that this could be an odd manufacturing defect. However, there were several others who had the same problem. It is difficult to believe that this could pass through a quality check. Maybe the quality check itself needs to be looked at to ensure that such problems do not slip through.

I hope this helps you.
