HP-15-ay 185 nb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Notebook  HP-15-ay 185 nb (Bluetooth® 4.0 c) has stopped connecting properly with my Bluetooth Harman/Kardon Studio Onyx 3 and I don t know why. The status says "connected (voice and music) but there's absolutely no sound coming from the Bluetooth speaker. I have headphones too (SONY) and they are still able to connect with my PC.

I already had this problem before but it got fixed by some HP operator when the computer still was covered by the guarantee. Now I can't find a solution.

Here are the Bluetooth specifications of my Harman/Kardon sound system (Studio 3) : Bluetooth 4.1, Support : A2DP 1.3 AVRCP 1.5 HFP 1.6

Could anyone help me ? I already updated my BIOS and my Bluetooth pilots on my Notebook but nothing changed.

Thanks in advance !

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues connecting your Bluetooth speakers to the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Are you selecting the correct output when the speakers are connected? Click on the speaker icon on the right-hand bottom of the screen and select your Bluetooth speakers there as an output device.

If the output device is selected correctly then follow the below steps.

If you notice your Bluetooth speaker pairing, but no sound, it is possible that the necessary service is disabled. Consequently, your Bluetooth speakers will not function properly. That said, you can activate the Bluetooth support service in Windows 10 by following the instructions below:

  1. On your keyboard, press Windows Key+R. This should open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type “services.msc” (no quotes), then hit Enter.
  3. Once you’ve got the Services window up, look for the Bluetooth support service and double-click it.
  4. From the drop-down menu, select Automatic.Check the Bluetooth support service to resolve no sound after Bluetooth connection in Windows 10
  5. You can now launch the Bluetooth support service by clicking the Start button.
  6. Confirm the changes you’ve made by clicking Apply and OK.

Method 3: Resetting your default playback device

There are users who tried adjusting the settings for their default playback device and got their wireless speakers working. You can also try this method by following the steps below:

  1. Right-click the Sound icon on the taskbar, then choose Sounds from the list.
  2. Once the Sound window is up, go to the Playback tab.
  3. You will see a list of audio devices. Click the Bluetooth speakers you paired with your computer.
  4. After that, set the Bluetooth speakers as your default playback device. You can do this by pressing the Set Default button.
  5. Save the changes you’ve made by clicking Apply, then pressing OK.

Method 4: Try pairing your Bluetooth speakers again

It is possible that an issue occurred when you tried to pair your Bluetooth speakers to your computer. You can try pairing them again to resolve the audio problems. Here are the steps:

  1. Click the Search icon on the taskbar.
  2. Type “Bluetooth” (no quotes) inside the search box.
  3. Select ‘Bluetooth and other device settings’.
  4. Disconnect the wireless speakers by pressing the Remove Device button.
  5. Confirm the changes by pressing the Yes button.
  6. Now, select the available Bluetooth speakers.
  7. Connect them once more by pressing the Pair button.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
