Hi @Riya35,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. What is your laptop or PC model and operating system?
  2. Are you using the built-in microphone and camera or external ones?
  3. Which screen recording software are you using?
  4. When you say it “says microphone connected,” does it show input levels when you speak?

In the meantime, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check Privacy Settings
    • Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone/Camera.
    • Make sure that access is enabled for the apps you want to use.
  2. Set Correct Input Device
    • Right-click the speaker icon → Sound settings → Input.
    • Make sure the correct microphone is selected as the default input device.
  3. Update or Reinstall Drivers
    • Open Device Manager → Audio inputs and outputs / Cameras.
    • Right-click the device → Update driver or Uninstall device, then restart so Windows reinstalls it.
  4. Test with Another App
    • Try using Voice Recorder or Camera app to see if the microphone and camera work there. This can help determine if it’s the app or the hardware.
  5. Disable Exclusive Control (for microphone)
    • Right-click microphone → Properties → Advanced tab → uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device.”

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
