Hi @Shar679 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the built-in speakers on your new HP 23.8" All-in-One Desktop PC (24-cd1023w) aren't working despite going through troubleshooting steps, here are some additional steps to try:

1. Check Sound Settings:

  • Default Playback Device:
    1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds or Sound Settings.
    2. Under the Playback tab, ensure the Realtek Audio or a similar built-in speaker device is set as the default.
  • Output Device:
    1. In the Sound Settings, confirm that the correct output device (e.g., Speakers - Realtek) is selected.

2. Update/Reinstall Audio Drivers:

Open Device Manager:

  1. Press Win + X and choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Sound, video, and game controllers section.

Right-click your audio device (e.g., Realtek Audio) and:

  • Select Update Driver and choose Search automatically.
  • If no update is found, right-click again, select Uninstall Device, then restart your PC to let Windows reinstall the driver.

Download Drivers from HP Support:

  • Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your model (24-cd1023w) and download the latest Audio Drivers for your PC.

3. Check for Muting or Volume Issues:

  • Ensure the volume is turned up in the Sound Settings and isn't muted.
  • Some keyboards have dedicated volume controls or mute buttons; verify they're not set to mute.

4. Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters.
  • Run the Playing Audio Troubleshooter and follow its recommendations.

5. BIOS Update:Sometimes, speaker issues are tied to outdated firmware:

  • Visit the HP Support page to check for a BIOS update specific to your model.
  • Follow HP's instructions to update the BIOS safely.

6. Test with External Audio:

  • Plug in headphones or external speakers into the headphone jack or connect via Bluetooth.
  • If external audio works, the issue might be specific to the built-in speaker

7. Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use HP’s built-in Hardware Diagnostics Tool:
    1. Restart your PC and press Esc repeatedly to open the Startup Menu.
    2. Select F2 for System Diagnostics.
    3. Run the audio test to determine if there’s a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
