hello everybody

after the last update of win11, I have lost audio and microphone.
In control panels there is no audio recording device and no audio output device.

I tried to rollback realtek's driver without solution.

I also tried to repair windows 11 with win ISO repair tool but the problem still remain.

How can I solve?

thanks

Hi @dottormadi

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your HP 17-cg1000 laptop lost audio and microphone functionality after the latest Windows 11 update. Since devices are missing from Control Panel, this points to a driver or service-level failure.

Let’s walk through a clean recovery path to restore sound and input.

Step-by-step actions to restore audio and microphone on Windows 11

1. Run the Audio Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  2. Run both Playing Audio and Recording Audio troubleshooters.
  3. Follow the prompts and apply any suggested fixes.

2. Enable audio services manually

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Locate and ensure these services are Running and set to Automatic:
    • Windows Audio
    • Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
    • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
  3. If any are stopped, right-click > Start, then set Startup type to Automatic.

3. Reinstall the audio driver cleanly

  1. Press Win + X > Device Manager.
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Right-click Realtek Audio (or any listed audio device) > Uninstall device.
  4. Check Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
  5. Restart your laptop.

Windows will attempt to reinstall the default driver. If it doesn’t, proceed to the next step.

4. Install the latest audio driver from HP

  • Visit: HP 17-cg1000 Drivers
  • Download and install the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver listed under “Driver-Audio”.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

5. Check device visibility

  • Go to Control Panel > Sound > Playback and Recording tabs.
  • Right-click in the blank area and enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices.
  • If devices appear, right-click and enable them.

6. Run the Diagnose & Fix tool

Let me know how your system responds after these steps. If audio devices still don’t appear, we can explore BIOS-level audio enablement or alternate driver modes next.

You’ve done everything right by staying persistent—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.
