@doctortrish, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're facing an issue where your laptop detects no audio device after playing sound from Facebook. This could be related to a few different things, like a software or driver issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to fix the "no audio device connected" error:
Check Audio Output Settings
Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar (bottom-right corner).
Click on Open Sound settings.
Under Output, make sure the correct audio device (such as "Speakers" or "Headphones") is selected.
If it's set to something else or shows "No audio device", change it to the correct one.
Restart Windows Audio Services
Sometimes, the Windows audio services might stop working properly.
Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
Scroll down and find Windows Audio.
Right-click it and select Restart.
Also, check that the service is set to Automatic. Right-click → Properties → Set Startup type to Automatic.
Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers
Update: Go to Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager), expand Sound, video and game controllers, and right-click your audio device. Choose Update driver and follow the prompts.
Rollback (if the issue started after a recent update): Right-click the audio device in Device Manager, choose Properties, go to the Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver.
Uninstall and Reinstall Audio Drivers
In Device Manager, right-click your audio device under Sound, video and game controllers and select Uninstall device.
After uninstalling, restart your computer. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
Check Audio Settings in Facebook
If the issue is specific to Facebook, make sure your browser has permission to use the audio device:
In your browser, check if the sound is muted or if any audio settings have been altered.
Try using a different browser to see if the issue persists.
