Hi @Ragill,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing audio issues on your HP Pavilion 15 after installing a new SSD and a fresh installation of Windows 10. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.
- Check Audio Drivers: Ensure that the audio drivers are installed and up to date. Sometimes, Windows Update might not fetch the latest drivers. You can visit the HP support website for your specific model and download the audio drivers from there.
- Device Manager: Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu), expand the "Sound, video and game controllers" section, and right-click on your audio device. Choose "Update driver" and let Windows search for the latest driver online. If it doesn't find any updates, you might try uninstalling the driver and then letting Windows reinstall it.
- Windows Audio Troubleshooter: Run the built-in Windows Audio Troubleshooter. You can access it by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Playing Audio. Follow the on-screen instructions to see if it can identify and fix the problem.
- BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, BIOS updates can address hardware compatibility issues that might affect audio performance.
- Check Connections: Ensure that all audio cables (if any) are securely connected. If you're using external speakers or headphones, try connecting them to another device to ensure they're functioning properly.
- Check Sound Settings: Open the Sound settings in Windows (right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray and select "Open Sound settings") and make sure the correct audio output device is selected.
- Disable Audio Enhancements: In the Sound settings, under the Playback tab, right-click on your audio device and select "Properties." Go to the Enhancements tab and check "Disable all enhancements." Sometimes, audio enhancements can cause issues.
- System Restore: If the issue started happening shortly after a specific change (like installing software or drivers), you might consider using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state where the audio was working fine.
- Check for Physical Damage: If none of the software solutions work, there might be a hardware issue with your audio hardware.
By going through these steps, you should be able to isolate and hopefully resolve the audio issue on your HP Pavilion 15.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
