Hi,

I think I erased a 'bang & olufsen' software by mistake on my Spectre 360 HP and I don't have sound anymore.

i've got a message 'a conexant audio device could not be found' when opening the laptop and no audio peripheral seems to be installed.

I've tried different troubleshooting, with no success.

Would anyone know how yo troubleshoot that? 🙏

thanks a lot

I tried several things and rebooted several times.

It now works but I don't understand what made the difference 🤷.

Thanks

Hi @ClémentB,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry you're facing this issue with your Spectre 360—it can be frustrating to lose sound unexpectedly. Let's work together to get it resolved.

  • Did this issue occur immediately after you uninstalled the Bang & Olufsen software, or were there other changes (e.g., Windows updates or driver installations) around the same time?
  • Have you checked if the audio device is visible in Device Manager, and if so, does it show any errors (e.g., a yellow triangle)?
  • Are you using external speakers or headphones, or is this solely affecting the built-in laptop speakers?

Let's try these steps.

1. Check Device Manager for Missing or Disabled Audio Devices

  • Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager.
  • Look under Sound, video, and game controllers for the Conexant Audio Device or any audio devices.
    • If you see an error icon or the device is missing, proceed to reinstall the driver (Step 2).
  • If the device is disabled, right-click it and choose Enable.

2. Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Visit the HP Drivers & Software website.
  • Enter your Spectre model and download the latest Conexant Audio Driver.
  • Install the driver and restart your laptop.

3. Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Press Windows Key + I to open Settings.
  • Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other Troubleshooters.
  • Run the Playing Audio Troubleshooter and follow the prompts to detect and resolve issues.

4. Update Windows and Drivers

  • Ensure your Windows is up to date:
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
  • Update drivers using Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates to install any available audio-related updates.

5. Check Default Audio Device Settings

  • Right-click the Sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds (or Sound Settings in newer versions of Windows).
  • Under Playback, ensure your Conexant or Bang & Olufsen device is selected as the default audio device.
  • If no device is listed, reinstalling the driver (Step 2) should resolve this.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
