Hi @SANDRO7000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your sound device disappeared after a driver update. HP recommends these checks and recovery options:

Check Device Manager

  • In Windows, open Device Manager.

  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.

  • Look for your audio device (for example, Realtek High Definition Audio).

  • If it is disabled, right-click it and Enable it.

  • You can also right-click it and select Update driver to search automatically for a newer driver.

This is a good step when Windows shows “no audio device is installed”.

Use HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the original audio driver

  • Open Start > All Programs > PC Help & Tools > Recovery Manager

  • Select Advanced Options

  • Choose Hardware Driver Reinstallation

  • Find the audio driver in the list (for example, Realtek audio)

  • Reinstall it, then restart the PC

HP’s guidance says Recovery Manager can restore the original hardware drivers that came with the computer.

Download the correct driver from HP Support

  • Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

  • Enter your exact HP model number

  • Select the correct operating system

  • Download the audio driver for your PC

HP also notes that if you cannot find network, sound, or video drivers, you may need the chipset driver, because the chipset can control onboard audio.

If the audio device is missing entirely

  • HP advises checking Device Manager for unknown devices under Other devices

  • Right-click the unknown device and select Update driver

  • If Windows still cannot detect the hardware, the issue might be with the driver software, or the device may need to be restored with the original HP software/driver set.

Also run Windows Update / HP Support tools

  • HP recommends running Windows Update

  • On supported systems, also use HP Support Assistant to check for HP-provided driver updates

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
