Hi all,
since a day or two, my HP ENVY speakers have stopped working. Plugging in earphones does not fix the problem, no audio playback whatsoever.
I have done the audio test via HP DIagnostics, have checked for Realtek and Intel audio driver updates, have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, have rebooted my laptop, etc. etc. But still, no working audio playback.
If I use the Windows troubleshooter, it says "audio services reageert niet" (Dutch) or "Audio services not responding". Ofcourse I have also tried rebooting the WIndows Audio service and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder (or something). But to no avail.
Does anyone of you have a similar problem or does anyone know what I can do?

Hi MrMRvanTIel,
I have EXACTLY the same problem and experience with solution - uninstall, install drivers, I tried some another solutions from discussion forums but nothing helps :o/
My problem started 18.8. after WIN10 - 2004 update so its almost 1 month without sound - just perfect for more than 1000 USD notebook.
I have probably the same HW configuration as u - Realtek soundcard and Intel chipset not AMD as many users in this forum with these sound problems writes.
Product 3F518EA
Serial nr. 3F518EA NOSN (SN: CND01354RZ)
I would be really glad if tech support could release some hot fix for this sound errors ASAP.

Have you already made all the windows updates?
I'll probably try to last a few days like this and then I'll ask you again what the experience is.

Hi Martin,
I checked and yes, I installed all Windows updates (including the 2004 one). The speakers still work fine.
However I noticed after installing certain drivers, the sound was very thin. After googling I discovered I had to turn off audio enhancements.
So beware, if your speakers' audio quality decreases after reinstalling Windows and some drivers, check this setting!

Thx man for another useful information!
I'm waiting for a call from the HP Support Center in a few days because I have a premium support for my laptop and I've already reported a sound problem.
But I assume that there will be no other solutions for me, so I will perform a factory reset like you.

So funny update my friend.
I called HP Customer Care again because there was no call from them and the IT technician decided to solve it by ordering a new motherboard, which he would come up with and replace it with: oD
It is not possible to speak directly with the technician, only with female operators and receptionists, so if I enjoy it, it will be their unnecessary financial loss.
As I told them a week ago, when I reported the case, it is a 99% SW problem.
However, the technician solved it like this.
I'm just not sure if this will lose the data on the SSD or not. If it is necessary to reinstall the entire operating system when replacing the motherboard due to the replacement of the main HW component :o/
