I need a new driver! I can't use my microphone. Worked an hr. with Microsoft not knowing it was an HP problem It is not a notebook. It is a laptop.
Wasn't I supposed to get regular updates or at least notifications?

@patpro, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
I understand your frustration with the microphone issue on your HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg0000 (model 9WF73AV). Let's address your concerns step by step.
Driver Installation for Microphone
Download the Driver:
Visit the official HP support page for your model:
support.hp.com
Select your operating system (e.g., Windows 10 or 11) and download the latest audio driver.
Install the Driver:
Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart your laptop after installation.
Test the Microphone:
Use the Voice Recorder app or any other application that utilizes the microphone to check if it's working.
Automatic Driver Updates
HP provides a tool called HP Support Assistant that can automatically detect and install the latest drivers for your laptop. This tool can help ensure your system remains up-to-date with the necessary drivers.
Download HP Support Assistant:
Go to the official HP Support Assistant page:
HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
Download and install the application.
Run the Application:
Open HP Support Assistant and let it scan your system for outdated or missing drivers.
Follow the prompts to install any recommended updates.
Additional Troubleshooting
If the microphone issue persists after updating the drivers:
Check Device Manager:
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand the Audio inputs and outputs section.
Right-click on your microphone device and select Uninstall device.
Restart your laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically.
Run Windows Troubleshooter:
Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
Select Recording Audio and run the troubleshooter.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
