Hi @Gizzy237

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out—and I’m really sorry you’re still seeing that “No audio device is installed” message even after installing the sound driver. That’s incredibly frustrating, especially when you’ve already taken the right steps.

Let’s dig a little deeper and get your sound back on track!

🔊 Try These Steps to Restore Audio on Your HP ENVY x360

Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
  • Follow the prompts to detect and fix audio issues automatically.

Check Device Manager

  • Press Win + X > Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • If your audio device is missing or has a warning icon:
    • Right-click and choose Scan for hardware changes.
    • If it appears, right-click and select Update driver > Search automatically.

Reinstall the Audio Driver Completely

  • In Device Manager, right-click the audio device (or any unknown device under “Other devices”) and choose Uninstall device.
  • Check Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
  • Restart your laptop and let Windows reinstall the driver automatically.
  • If it doesn’t, download the driver from the HP Support page for your model and install it manually.

Enable Audio Services

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Find Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder.
  • Make sure both are set to Running and Startup type: Automatic.
  • If not, right-click > Start, and set them to Automatic.

Try Microsoft’s Generic Audio Driver

  • In Device Manager, right-click the audio device > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick from a list.
  • Select High Definition Audio Device and click Next.

System Restore (if recent changes caused the issue)

  • If the problem started after a recent update or install, consider using System Restore to roll back to a point when sound was working.

You’ve already shown great persistence, and I’m here to help you keep pushing forward. Let’s bring the audio back to life! 🎧
