I found a solution to the "missing" Realtek Stereo Mix driver.
The latest update of Windows has a facility called "Windows WASAPI" that I accessed through the recording app, in this case, Audacity. Apparently, this functionality replaces the old Realtek Stereo Mix driver. WASAPI directs the audio card to use the signal from the output device (e.g., your headphones) as the input to the recording software.
To access WASAPI in Audacity, go to the Audio Setup button on the toolbar. Select Host in the dropdown, then select Windows WASAPI. This populates the Recording Device dropdown with your Playback Devices. Next, select your Recording Device to match your Playback Device. Presto!
