Please assist, my laptop OS has been upgraded to Windows 11. My laptop is an HP 15dh1060nt.

Since upgrading, the audio speakers havent worked. I googled &, according to HP, the correct driver for Windows 11 is v6.0.9700.1. Along with this audio driver, there is a required BIOS upgrade. Unfortunately, without a bios upgrade, the correct audio driver can't install.

Things I've tried is to repair HPSupportSolutionsFramework, hoping this will allow me to download the Audio & BIOS upgrade from the HP download page, but it doesn't. The audio driver that loads but doesn't work is 10.0.26100.1.

I downloaded v6.0.9700.1 from Realtek, but it stops installing & said there's a problem.

Further, when I went to my HP dashboard to look for a windows 11 audio driver, it only allows driver updates for Windows 10.

I've upated my software & repaired my APPS. How do I fix this? Thanks

@sbrittin, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Uninstall Current Audio Driver

Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager

Expand Sound, video and game controllers

Right-click Realtek Audio → Choose Uninstall device

Tick "Delete the driver software" if available

Restart your laptop

Install the HP Audio Driver

Even if it says Windows 10, it should work:

Go to HP Drivers Page for your model

Download the Realtek Audio Driver

Right-click the downloaded file → Run as Administrator

Follow the install steps → Restart after installation

BIOS Upgrade

You may need a BIOS update first.

Option A – Via USB:

Download BIOS update from HP's site

Use HP’s tool to create a USB BIOS update stick

Restart laptop → Press F10 at startup → Use the USB to update BIOS

Option B – Temporary Windows 10:

If BIOS won’t install in Windows 11, temporarily install Windows 10

Update BIOS using HP Support Assistant

Then reinstall Windows 11

Try Generic Microsoft Driver

Open Device Manager

Right-click Realtek Audio → Update Driver

Choose Browse my computer → Let me pick

Select "High Definition Audio Device" (Microsoft)

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for replying. As you can probably tell from my post, I've tried several possible solutions, such as calling Microsoft, but their last recommendation was "contact HP", I've downloaded audio driver 6.0.9700.1 & attempted to install it, but received an error message. I opened up my laptop to confirm the speakers are connected to the motherboard, & they both are. Since then, I have given up trying to resolve this on my own.

I have an HP 15dh1060nr laptop, & it has no audio. I don't know when it stopped, but I suspect it happened after upgrading to Windows 11.

Nevertheless, I followed your instructions, uninstalled the Realtec driver from sound, video & game controller & restarted my PC. I then went to  HP windows 10 drivers for my PC & selected 64bit audio driver & installed version 6.0.9018.1; & restarted my PC. I went to Youtube, clicked on Hotel California & there still is no sound.

My laptop currently has an F41 BIOS, version 3.2

According to HP, the correct driver is 6.0.9700.1, however, according to HP, in order to install this driver, my PC requires a BIOS upgrade.
