i'm watching a netflex movie but the volume control button on the hp laptop plus/minus buttons don't change the volume on the laptop speakers but if i use earphones the volume buttons work

Welcome to HP Support Community.

 

Please try the below and let us know the outcome. We request you to provide us with the HP laptop model to assist you better.

Check which audio output is active (quick win)

While the movie is playing:

  1. Press Win + Ctrl + V
    (opens Sound output picker directly)

  2. Use arrow keys to select:

    • Speakers (Realtek / HP Audio)

  3. Press Enter

Now try Volume + / − keys.

👉 If it suddenly works, Windows had switched to a “ghost” output.
