Hi @harika_01,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's webcam and audio are not accessible during an exam, there could be a few potential issues causing this. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Webcam and Microphone Permissions:

  • Windows Settings:
    1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
    2. Ensure that Camera access for this device is turned on.
    3. Scroll down to Allow apps to access your camera and make sure the app you're using for the exam has access.
    4. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
    5. Ensure that Microphone access for this device is turned on.
    6. Scroll down to Allow apps to access your microphone and make sure the app you're using for the exam has access.

Update Drivers:

  • Webcam:
    1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Cameras or Imaging devices.
    3. Right-click on your webcam and select Update driver.
  • Audio:
    1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
    3. Right-click on your audio device and select Update driver.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that no other applications are using the webcam or microphone. Close applications like Skype, Zoom, or other communication tools that might be using these devices.

Test Webcam and Microphone:

  • Webcam:
    1. Open the Camera app from the Start menu and see if the webcam works.
  • Microphone:
    1. Open Settings > System > Sound.
    2. Under Input, select your microphone and test it.

Reinstall the Webcam and Audio Drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. For the webcam: Expand Cameras or Imaging devices, right-click on your webcam, and select Uninstall device.
  3. For audio: Expand Sound, video, and game controllers, right-click on your audio device, and select Uninstall device.
  4. Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the drivers automatically.

Ensure Exam Software Settings:

  • Make sure the exam software is set to use the correct webcam and microphone. Check the settings within the exam application.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  2. Select Additional troubleshooters.
  3. Run the troubleshooter for Recording Audio and Video playback.

Check System Requirements:

  • Ensure your laptop meets the system requirements for the exam software, including the correct version of Windows, necessary hardware, and internet connection.

Try an External Webcam or Microphone:

  • If the built-in webcam or microphone is still not working, try using an external USB webcam or microphone as a temporary solution.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue preventing your webcam and audio from being accessed during your exam.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
