Hi @SahabJi,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP laptop speakers where the sound automatically decreases after a few minutes, but headphones work fine. This could be due to a variety of factors, including driver issues, power settings, or hardware problems. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help diagnose and resolve the issue:

1. Check Audio Settings

Volume Mixer:

  • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Open Volume Mixer.
  • Ensure the volume levels for different applications are set correctly and not muted or lowered automatically.

Sound Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound.
  • Under Output, select your laptop speakers and ensure the volume is set to an appropriate level.

2. Check for Audio Enhancements

  • Disable Enhancements:
    • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
    • Go to the Playback tab, select your speakers, and click Properties.
    • Navigate to the Enhancements tab and check the box for Disable all enhancements. If this tab isn’t available, skip this step.

3. Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers

Update Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select Device Manager).
  • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
  • Right-click your audio device and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Roll Back Drivers:

  • If the problem started after a recent driver update, you might need to roll back the driver.
  • In Device Manager, right-click your audio device, select Properties, go to the Driver tab, and click Roll Back Driver if the option is available.

4. Check Power Management Settings

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  • Click Change plan settings next to your selected power plan, then Change advanced power settings.
  • Expand the Processor power management section and ensure the Minimum processor state is set to a reasonable percentage (e.g., 5% for both battery and plugged in).

Disable Power Saving for Audio:

  • Sometimes, audio devices can be affected by power saving settings. Check if there's an option in the Device Manager under your audio device's Power Management tab to allow the computer to turn off the device to save power, and uncheck it.

5. Check for Hardware Issues

Test Speakers:

  • Use the Sound settings in Control Panel to test the speakers. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound. In the Playback tab, select your speakers and click Configure or Test to check if the issue persists.

7. Reinstall Audio Drivers

  • Reinstall Drivers:
    • In Device Manager, right-click your audio device and select Uninstall device.
    • Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the audio drivers.

8. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

  • Update BIOS:
    • Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop on HP’s support website and update if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
