Hi @JARRIOu,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Ensure Microphone Is Not Muted

  • Check whether the microphone is muted. You can find the mute/unmute option in the settings or the audio controls of your application.

Check Application Permissions

  • Make sure that the application you are using (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet) has permission to access the microphone.
  • Go to Chromebook Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings > Microphone and ensure the app has access.

Increase Microphone Volume

  • Ensure the microphone volume is turned up.
  • Go to Settings > Device > Sound Settings and look for the microphone input. Increase the volume if it's low.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Restart the Chromebook

  • Sometimes a simple restart can solve the issue.

Check for Software Updates

  • Ensure your Chromebook is up to date. Go to Settings > About Chrome OS and check for updates.

Test the Microphone Using Voice Recorder

  • Use a voice recording tool to check if the microphone works. This can help identify if the issue is only with specific applications.

Check for External Device Conflict

  • If you have any external microphones or headphones with a mic plugged into your Chromebook, ensure they are properly connected or try disconnecting them to see if the built-in microphone starts working.

Factory Reset

If the above steps don't resolve the issue, you may consider a factory reset. However, remember to back up your data before performing a reset.

I hope this helps.
