HP Spectre
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I had bought a new HP Spectre for ny daughter who had started graduation with the expectation that it would last atleast 4 years.

Now after 1.5 years of running it suddenly went off and can no longer be powered on. Service center people have recommended a change of motherboard which costs more than 60% of laptop price.

Pls help. We expect a laptop to last atleast 3 years as all corporates do. Otherwise why buy from a brand like HP?

@innokreat1,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

As a fellow-HP User, I am sorry to hear this happened to you.

Assuming HP's Service center folks diagnosed the issue correctly -your motherboard has indeed gone bad, I would consider getting a used Spectre motherboard via eBay and swapping it out yourself, assuming you are comfortable doing this.

Depending on what specific Spectre motherboard you need, it could cost you less than $100 as seen here: HP Spectre motherboard for sale | eBay.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
