Notebook 15-ac143dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product: V8T78UA#ABA
Model: 15-ac143dx
MB: AHL50/ABL52 LA-C701P

10 short beeps when turned on. No LED blinks ( That I can see ). When originally brought to me, I was barely able to read an error on the screen about the battery not being able to hold a charge or "sometething" like that. I have a new battery for it and a brand new power adapter. I turn it on and get the faint but audible 10 beeps. I can hit the Fn keys and it displays what would normally be the "F10...BIOS Setup Options" or the F2...Startup messages in the lower left corner, but then juuuust hangs there. So, I was thinking maybe a BIOS flash was in order? I cannot, however, find any links to a bootable version of the BIOS flash tool from HP. Also the 10 beeps are not listed as even a possibility. Okay, so are the beeps from more of a MB manufacturer point-of-view? Anyone up to the challenge?

Hi @m0e_Prime

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Try these steps to restore the BIOS -

1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Hold down the Windows and B button together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows and B button until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow on-screen instructions and click on OK.

You may also try to restore the BIOS using a recovery flash drive. Download the BIOS from this link.

Refer to this video link for step by step instructions - How to Restore the BIOS with a Recovery Flash Drive on HP Notebooks?

If the issue still persists, perform a hardware diagnostics -

1) Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2) Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3) On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4) Click Extensive Test.

Thank you for the links to the software. I did indeed need to reflash the BIOS. I am, however, still getting that 10-beeps at boot, but at least I can get into bios and have it tell me that there is no OS on the drive. That's a different issue altogether.

Did you try testing the hardware component?

Also, try recovering the BIOS and keep me posted.
