HP Envy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have never had such a problematic laptop as the HP Envy I bought a while back.  I avoid window updates because it just hangs and dies during reboots.

For an I7 processor it feels like they put my old 386 processor in it.  This evening 2.5 hours ago it froze and crashed.

I had to switch off and it took and hour boot.  When it booted it crashed repeatedly trying to open Mozilla and crashed excel with just 3 Mozilla tabs open.  Task manager wasn't 100% on any of the CPU, memory or disk values.

I has to reboot and 1.5 hrs later it still hasn't booted.

This is the biggest pos I've ever worked with, wont ever touch an hp again after this.

But why the hell is it taking hours for a laptop with 16gb ram and an i7 processor hours to boot?  How do I fix this?  Other than forensically retrieving my data and going back to my Acer and taking a sledgehammer to the envy laptop as I feel like doing right now?

I didn't have a lot of start up services so **bleep** is wrong with this?

Hi,

Can you provide the exact model number of the notebook. Here is how to find it:

Model number

Many times what you are describing can be caused by a bad Hard Drive. So, first, let's see if the hardware is OK.

Turn off the PC by holding the power button. Turn on PC and repeatedly keep pressing ESC until the startup menu appears and then press F2 to enter diagnostics. Try the fast test, or at least the hard drive test.

See if there are any hardware errors.

Let me know,

David
