HP 2 in 1 touchscreen 116 Chromebook
Chrome OS

I haven't used my Chromebook in a couple of weeks. I plugged it in yesterday morning to charge and nothing happened-I let it go for a while thinking the battery completely drained but even after an hour of charging, it won't turn on.  When I plug in the charger, the light near the plug in flashes briefly in an amber color, and the light next to the power button briefly flashes white.  That is it. I have tried the rebooting suggestions (power and refresh) several times with no result.  I have read about issues with the charger, but I don't know if it is that since there is some recognition when it is plugged in.  I am hesitant to open it up to play with the battery as some users have done.  Any input is appreciated.

Thank you.

What is the product name of your chromebook?  Look for ProdID in the tiny print on the bottom and post it here.

Is it a Chromebook x2?

It is a Chromebook X360, Product ID 2MW50UA#ABA

(it took a flashlight and holding it right up to my face to read that...LOL)

Is it still in warranty?

I have had it for just over 6 months.  I don't recall what the warranty period is.

The warranty is for one year.

On the support page at the link, look above the black troubleshooting button and click on check warranty status in blue.

That will get you on you way to reporting a warranty issue, which is what you are having.

Thank you Erico. I will be heading into Best Buy for repairs as well. What is intersting is I bought it in April 2018 but that link you gave me had a start date of October 2017 which leads me to a couple of concerns: 1) why wouldn't the warranty start when I bought it; 2) Did I buy a refurbished unit without knowing/

I truly appreciate your help. I will update you on how it goes.

The warranty date issue just happens and is why HP has a mechanism available to help resolve it easily. See the folowing link for that.

You can use your receipt to dispute the date if it is incorrect, so that should not be an issue at all. Best Buy. OK.

Erico-just got back from Best Buy (I was lucky to be able to get right in at the Geek Squad). They are sending back to HP under the warranty and they were also confused about the beginning date of the warranty.  I just submitted my dispute request per your suggestion.

Thank you so much for your time and input!
