On 6th of October 2025, i visited a hp service centre and they told me they are verified repair shops but i suspect they weren't as their shop name was not on the website and they had the excuse of the list not updated.

As my computer was not getting on, there were 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps on capslock.

I paid 2400 inr and got it done and now today 30 October 2025,again i face the same problem. Not even a month is passed that i am facing the same issue.

In the receipt too they have not mentioned what was the actual problem,  it just says motherboard issue, I don't know if they have fooled me and was making money.  They also didn't tell me the real cause.

I tried to hard reset but that was also not working.

HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15s series.

Initially my Ram was 8 gb and i got it extended to 16gb in 2023 when i bought this laptop.

Any answers would help,Edited

Hi @Khansa_ali,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP 15s Laptop is not powering on and shows 3 long and 2 short beeps, even after a recent repair. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Disconnect Power and External Devices
Unplug the charger and remove all external devices such as USB drives, mouse, or keyboard.
If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out as well.

b. Perform a Hard Reset

With the charger and battery removed, press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain any residual power.

Reconnect only the charger (leave the battery out if removable) and try turning on the laptop.

c. Check RAM Modules
Since your laptop RAM was upgraded to 16 GB, the issue could be with a loose or faulty memory stick.

Disconnect the charger and remove the back panel carefully.

Reseat the RAM sticks — remove them and insert them back firmly into their slots.

If you have two RAM sticks, try starting the laptop with only one stick at a time to isolate if one is faulty.

d. Clear CMOS (if applicable)
If your laptop allows, disconnect the small CMOS battery on the motherboard for a minute, then reconnect it. This resets the BIOS and can resolve startup beep issues.

e. Inspect for Damage or Corrosion
While the back panel is open, look for any burnt marks, corrosion, or liquid damage on the motherboard or RAM area. These can trigger the 3:2 beep error.

f. Reconnect Power and Test
After reseating the RAM and ensuring all connections are secure, reconnect the charger and press the power button.
Observe if the LED lights or fan starts momentarily.

I hope this helps.

hi, thank you for your answer. Today when tried to open my laptop it showed a screen which says that "your pc ran into a problem" and four options were given, I pressed enter to try again. It started to load but again the screen started blinking and went blank after that when I restart it it again showed those 3:2 beeps. What could be the reason?

Thank you in advance.

Hi @Khansa_ali,

Thank you for the response.

I understand your HP 15s laptop is showing 3 long and 2 short beeps, and you’ve already repaired it recently, but the issue has returned along with occasional “Your PC ran into a problem” messages. Let’s go through a few steps to narrow down the cause.

Understand the Beep Code (3:2)
The 3 long and 2 short beeps indicate a memory or system board (motherboard) issue.
Since the laptop occasionally boots and then fails again, this often points to unstable RAM contact or a failing memory slot rather than a completely dead board.

Disconnect Power and External Devices
Unplug the charger and remove any external accessories like USB drives or mouse.
If your model has a removable battery, take it out as well.

Perform a Hard Reset
Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to discharge static power.
Then, connect only the charger (leave the battery out) and try turning on the laptop again.

Check and Reseat the RAM Modules
Since you upgraded your RAM to 16 GB, remove the back panel carefully.
Take out both RAM sticks and clean their golden connectors gently with a soft cloth.
Reinsert one RAM stick at a time and try booting after each attempt, this will help identify if one module or slot is faulty.

Check for Overheating or Loose Components
While inside, ensure the fan area and heatsink are clean and that no cable or connector is loose.
A loose connection or dust accumulation can cause the board to behave erratically and trigger the same error.

BIOS Reset (if possible)
If your laptop reaches the HP logo before failing, press F10 to open BIOS setup.
Inside BIOS, press F9 to load default settings, then F10 to save and exit.
This can help if the BIOS was corrupted or misconfigured.

I hope this helps.
