ProBook 4540s
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I own a 3rd generation HP Probook 4540s. I recently upgraded it's HDD Hard drive with an Kingston SSD hardrive.

Upon installation of the SSD drive, the boot screen shows an error message "Boot Device Not Found" followed by another message stating "Hard Disk - (3F0)". I''m not sure what the problem is.

I tried following steps:

1. Checked and installed the new kingston SSD on another laptop, it worked flawlessly.

2. Installed the old HDD back again, error messages remain consistent.

3. Plugged a bootable USB drive to install windows, no luck in detecting the hard drive.

4. Went through "System Diagnostics" and proceeded towards "hard Drive Check", following messages appeared:

 A. Smart check: NOT AVAILABLE.

B. Long DST : NOT AVAILABLE.

I would be really grateful if anyone could assist me on this.

Thanks for the reply,

I simply changed the BOOT load settings from "Legacy" to "UEFI" and it resolved the issue.
