Hi @newcom ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error code 3F0 on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-d4000 (4C802AV) indicates that the system is unable to detect a boot device, which is typically your hard drive or SSD. Since you've mentioned that the laptop has no HDD, this error is expected if no storage device is installed or if the existing one is not properly connected.

Here are steps to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Check Storage Installation (If you intend to install an HDD/SSD)

  • Power off the laptop and unplug the charger.
  • Open the back cover of the laptop to inspect the storage bay.
  • Ensure that the HDD/SSD is properly connected to the SATA connector.
  • If no drive is installed, install a compatible HDD or SSD.
  • After installation, close the cover, plug in the charger, and power on the laptop.

2. Check Boot Order in BIOS (If storage is already installed)

  • Power on the laptop and immediately press the Esc or F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS menu.
  • In the BIOS, navigate to the Boot section and ensure the HDD/SSD (if installed) is listed as the primary boot device.
  • If no drive is detected, it could indicate a problem with the drive or the connection.

3. Replace the Drive (If needed)

  • If the storage device is damaged or missing, you will need to replace it with a new HDD or SSD.
  • After installing the new drive, you will also need to reinstall the operating system.

4. Check for UEFI/Legacy Boot Settings

  • If the drive is present and properly connected, check whether the BIOS is set to boot in UEFI or Legacy mode, depending on how the system was originally set up.
  • Adjust the boot mode if necessary, then save and exit.

5. Run Diagnostics  HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures

  • Enter the BIOS and navigate to the Diagnostics section.
  • Run the Primary Hard Disk Self Test to check the status of the installed storage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your complete answer

All these steps I have already and many times done. No result. The SSD is not recognize in the BIOS.

So also not in system or diskmanagement. I have already update the Bios
