Hi @HueyPecker,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop froze, shut down unexpectedly, and is now not rebooting despite trying the F10 and F11 solutions, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the laptop from any external power source.
- Remove the battery if it's removable.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery (if removable) and the power adapter.
- Turn on the laptop.
Check Power Supply:
- Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
- Try a different power outlet or power adapter if available.
Remove External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, printers, etc.) from the laptop.
- Sometimes, faulty external devices can cause boot issues.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart the laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key during boot.
- Choose "Safe Mode" from the advanced boot options.
- If the laptop boots in safe mode, it could indicate a software issue.
System Restore:
- If you can access the Advanced Boot Options, try to perform a System Restore to a point before the issue occurred.
- This can be done from the advanced troubleshooting options.
Boot from a Windows Installation or Recovery Disk:
- If you have a Windows installation or recovery disk, insert it and boot from it.
- Choose the repair or recovery options to attempt to fix the startup problem.
Run Built-in Diagnostics:
- Some HP laptops have built-in diagnostics tools.
- Press the power button and immediately start tapping the Esc key or F2 key.
- Select the diagnostics option and run a diagnostic test to check for hardware issues.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Access the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing the appropriate key during boot (often Esc, F1, F2, or Del).
- Ensure that the boot order is set correctly, with the internal hard drive as the first boot device.
Reinstall or Repair Windows:
- If none of the above solutions work, you may need to consider reinstalling or repairing the Windows operating system.
- This can be done using a Windows installation disk or a USB drive with the Windows installation files.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
