Product: Probook 4530s

Probook 4530s currently running BIOS F28

 

Wanting to update to current latest BIOS (F63)

 

Have downloaded BIOS and created rescue flash USB drive.

 

Upon booting, it is necessary to go into the BIOS and select the option to Update the BIOS upon next reboot.  Laptop will then reboot and I see a screen similar to Step 4 part 4 from the following support doc, except the only thing it says is "The System BIOS update failed".

Update log says:

06/15/17 21:40:15 Failed init of SMBIOS data

 

 

I am not running Windows and so cannot update from the O/S

 

Any suggestion to get this half baked system working again?

Just tried F50 BIOS with the same result:

After googling a different search than last time, I came across this:

I renamed the file     Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New\.BIN   to   Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New\68SRR.bin

and renamed              Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New\.SIG   to   Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New\68SRR.sig

 

BIOS now updates correctly
