AC Adapter charges battery but does not feed direct AC power directly

Hello,

Having issues keeping my lnotebook on when battery discharges completely even if the AC adapter is connected.

Trying to diagnose if the problem is the AC adapter or something internal where the motheboard doesn't get direct AC power.

Here are the facts:

AC Adapter only charges battery.

AC adapter does not provide AC power to PC when battery is out of charge or removed.

For both scenarios the LED light is on when adapter is conected.

Ran HP diagnostics tool and the AC Adapter test failed giving this failure ID:

U4W78F-8JG9LN-MFPX6K-C1EQ13

The test found a problem with the AC adapter and it may need to be replaced. Check the connections on the AC adapter and be sure it is connected to a grounded outlet.

The adapter look physically fine and was checked so not sure wha to do.

A failing adapter usually doesn't have any obvious outward signs. It will usually charge the battery with laptop shutdown but doesn't provide enough power to charge and run the laptop.
