Notebook 15-ay011nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a one week old HP Notebook 15-ay011nr that doesn't allow me to access BIOS. I don't see the "Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" message but it boots directly to the hp logo.

With reference to this previous post :

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Access-to-BIOS/td-p/1504303 on a pavillion dv6

I've tried all steps except the last one ( removing the RTC battery).

I wanted to make sure if that solution applies to notebook 15 and if I should do that or something else considering the warranty hasn't expired

Any suggestion/help would be greatly appreciated

Regards,

KristiD

Only other thing I can think of that isn't in that post is to restore the bios, you can do this by holding the win+B keys and turning on holding these keys, you can release when the bios update/recovery screen comes up

After that try again with Esc or f10 keys immediately after powering on

If this does not work then I'd recommend contacting HP with your computer being in warranty

NB: do not attempt to remove the RTC battery as this will void any support from HP, I'd just allow them to sort it out if my above step does not work

The BIOS roll back didn't work

I also had the same problem.

I used HP Product Support Center, and asked for Accessing BIOS.

It provided me the answer that worked.

I did not have the confidence with the answer, but it worked.

It raised my confidence on HP Product Support Center million %.

The answer that I got was as follow:

For laptop model after 2011, repetitively hit Esc key as soon as power button is pressed to turn on the power.

You should not wait until HP logo is displayed.

I tried that for two days, but the laptop just moved on to Windows 10 always.

But, hitting Esc key as soon as power button is pressed worked for the first time for me.
