HP Notebook - 15-bs039ns
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a successfully bios upgrade, the laptop does not start and only shows a black screen. I have tried to recover the bios by booting the laptop with win+b or win+v but it does not work. Is there any other way to recover the bios?

Hi @Teskel, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Since your HP Notebook - 15-bs039ns is not starting after a BIOS upgrade and Win + B or Win + V key combinations did not work, here are some additional steps you can try to recover the BIOS:

1. Hard Reset the Laptop

  1. Disconnect the power adapter.
  2. Remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
  5. Try to turn on the laptop.

If this doesn't work, proceed to the next steps.

2. Use an External Monitor

  • Sometimes, a BIOS update can cause display issues. Connect an external monitor via HDMI or VGA and check if there is any output.

3. Force BIOS Recovery via USB (Manual BIOS Recovery)

Since the built-in BIOS recovery (Win + B or Win + V) did not work, you may need to reflash the BIOS using a USB drive:

Step 1: Download the BIOS File

  1. Go to HP Support.
  2. Enter your laptop model (HP Notebook - 15-bs039ns).
  3. Find the BIOS Update file and download it.

Step 2: Create a BIOS Recovery USB

  1. Run the BIOS update EXE file on another working Windows PC.
  2. Select Create a Recovery USB drive when prompted.
  3. Insert a USB drive (FAT32 formatted) and follow the on-screen instructions to create the BIOS recovery media.

Step 3: Perform BIOS Recovery

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Insert the BIOS Recovery USB drive into a USB port.
  3. Hold Win + B (or Win + V), then press and hold the Power button for 5-10 seconds.
  4. Release the Power button but keep holding Win + B (or Win + V) until the BIOS recovery screen appears.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the BIOS.

4. Reset CMOS (BIOS Reset)

If the laptop still doesn't boot:

  1. Disconnect the battery and power adapter.
  2. Open the back panel and locate the CMOS battery (small round battery).
  3. Remove it for about 5 minutes.
  4. Reinsert the battery, close the laptop, and try to boot again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
