Hi @Vthenoob

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP laptop encountered a critical issue during the reset process, which left it unable to boot properly.

Here's how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

1. Verify Your Operating System

  • If the reset removed or corrupted your operating system, the laptop is asking you to choose one because it can't locate a valid installation.
  • Confirm whether Windows 10 is still installed:
    • Restart the laptop and press F11 or Esc repeatedly during startup to access the Recovery Options menu.
    • Look for options to troubleshoot or reinstall Windows.

2. Use Recovery Media

  • If you don’t have admin access or an operating system:
    • You’ll need a Windows installation USB drive or recovery media.
    • Create one using another computer:
      • Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website.
      • Follow the prompts to create a bootable USB drive.
    • Insert the USB drive into your HP laptop and boot from it:
      • Restart the laptop and press F9 or Esc to access the boot menu.
      • Select the USB drive and follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Windows.

3. Reset BIOS Settings

  • A corrupted BIOS can also cause boot errors:
    • Restart the laptop and press F2 or Esc during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
    • Restore the BIOS to default settings and save the changes.
    • Try booting the laptop again.

4. Perform a Factory Reset

  • If you still have access to HP's recovery partition:
    • Restart and press F11 repeatedly during startup.
    • Select Troubleshoot > Factory Reset and follow the prompts.
    • This will reinstall the original version of Windows that came with your laptop.

5. Create an Admin Account

  • If you don't have admin access, you may need to create a new account during Windows installation or recovery:
    • Follow the recovery or reinstallation prompts to set up a new admin account.

6. Hardware Check

  • A hardware failure (e.g., hard drive or SSD) could also cause startup issues:
    • Restart the laptop and enter diagnostics mode (usually F10 or Esc during startup).
    • Run system tests to check for hardware issues.
