Hello.  We seem to have a real conundrum here that doesn’t seem to be covered anywhere.  Like many, we have suddenly had a message on boot up asking for an admin password or power on password.  Unlike many however, after putting in any old passwords so we fail after three attempts, we are not then presented with an unique code, it just tells us to power off and off we go again.  I have also tried pressing the function keys so we can access the boot menu but we have tried every function key along with esc key as well and nothing will open a boot menu so we also can’t use a USB disk from a windows recovery tool.  After speaking to HP as it is only 6 months old and under warranty, they tell me they can’t help me and i should try a computer repair shop who told me…that they cannot help unlock it and we need to go to HP…

Has anybody had the same issue as every time we try to research it, we can only ever find the function keys or Win B (tried that) or getting a code after 3 attempts none of which apply to us.  Seems crazy that we may have to buy a new computer after only having it 6 months and have never once gone near the bios password.

Thanks!
