HP Notebook - 15-bs109np

Hello everybody

I upgraded my PC 15-bs109np. I installed a 500Gb SSD and Windows 11 Pro. Everything worked great. When I found that everything was working fine, I decided to update the BIOS. The one the PC had was version F.24. I automatically updated with the HP tool to a new version: F. 75 Rev A

During the update process it went well but then when I tried to restart it never booted. I hear the fan running but nothing else.

So I tried a pen drive BIOS installation. I also tried the key procedure but I can't get anything.

Another thing. On the HP website, the BIOS history does not show the version I had installed, F. 24.

Could someone from the group help me recover my computer?

Thanks a lot

You can try the win-b recovery

If you cloned the original drive then you cloned the backups of the BIOS.  HP has backup BIOS in a reserved partition of the drive.  If you did not clone the old drive then your new SSD is missing the backup bios.

HP support video for bios recovery

Click here to see how to recover your BIOS.
Do 1, 2, and the first part of 3.
For the second part of 3 you will need a USB flash drive and possibly an
older BIOS if the recent BIOS caused the problem. Make sure the USB flash had LED lights.

For laptops, step 2 'CMOS reset' there is no CMOS battery nor CMOS switch and no need to open the laptop. Use the Windows key + 'v' as explained here.

To install from USB.
When you power up your system the LEDs on the flash drive should flash once at the instant power is applied. They will then flash about three to five seconds later (hopefully). When they flash a second time that means the files are being read from the flash drive. If you never see it flash a second time then the boot loader is damaged and you cannot recover the bios unless you use a programming tool or replace the chip. You hold down the Windows key + B key when powering up with the USB flash inserted.

Looking here, I do not see the F.24 either.

The last useful bios (IMHO) is F.65 so use this in that USB

Thank you very much for your response BeemerBiker.

I will follow all the steps you suggest I do. I didn't clone the Hard Drive but I'm going to remove the new one and reinstall the old one. Maybe it's simpler this way.

I found this site where old versions of Bios appear. I don't know if version F. 24 can be used on any PC or if there are modified F. 24 versions to be installed on different models of HP laptops.

Once again, thank you very much my friend. I will write here whether I succeeded or not.
Best regards

Thank you very much for all the information. Unfortunately, after repeating each of the indicated procedures several times, absolutely nothing is achieved. I just hear the fan running and a very faint flash from the screen.

I haven't yet tested restoring the BIOS with a pendrive that has LEDs. I would like to know if there is any activity while it is connected. Could I replace that pendrive with an external disk since I have one here at home that has LEDs?

I can't understand how this happened. The laptop was in perfect condition. I did the automatic BIOS update with the HP tool. I didn't make any mistakes. I'm used to these procedures because I have six HP notebooks here at home. This has never happened in the past.

Thank you again for your help.

HI BeemerBiker

I'm trying to install the BIOS with a pen drive as indicated in the procedure you sent me. When I start the computer, I hear the fan, the hard drive and I can see the first flash of the pendrive, but after three or four seconds the light on the pendrive remains fixed (it does not flash).

I have done the procedure several times but it is always the same thing. I can't see anything on the screen. It's completely black. I've even connected an external screen via HDMI. Something very bad is certainly going on.

Thank you again for your valuable help.
