HP EliteBook 820 G3 Notebook PC

Hello. I bought a used HP EliteBook 820 G3. When I try to enter the BIOS, it asks for a BIOS Administrator Password. I do not know this password because I bought the laptop second-hand, and the previous owner did not provide it.

I understand that HP may provide a special file or recovery procedure that can be used to reset the BIOS Administrator Password. However, I do not know how to obtain this file or what information I need to provide to HP to receive it.
Could you please explain step by step what I need to do to officially reset or remove the BIOS Administrator Password? If you can provide the required file or tell me how to obtain it, please explain the process in detail.
I can provide the serial number, product number, proof of purchase, or any other information required to verify ownership.
Thank you.

Hi:

Can you return the notebook?

If not, you will need to install a motherboard that does not have a BIOS password.

HP ceased providing SMC.bin files used to clear BIOS passwords from HP business class notebooks effective March 1, 2019.

The link below explains HP's policy regarding lost or forgotten BIOS passwords since that date:

HP Business PCs - Forgotten or lost BIOS password | HP® Support

There is no other way to clear a BIOS P/W from your notebook without the SMC.bin file.

Also, the HP Community forum rules of participation prohibit anyone from providing assistance with lost or forgotten BIOS passwords, not that we could have in your situation anyway (Rule 4.d).
