my OMEN by HP laptop is now locked at BIOS level.
When attempting to enter the BIOS, the system displays the “HP SpareKey Recovery” screen and requests an HP SpareKey USB Recovery Key.

I have never created a SpareKey and therefore cannot access the BIOS.

Device details:

  • Product: OMEN by HP Laptop

  • System SKU: 4AT73EA#UUZ

  • Serial Number: Edited

I kindly request your assistance in unlocking the BIOS using an SMC.bin file (HP BIOS unlock procedure).

Thank you for reaching out, and I’m really sorry to hear that your OMEN laptop is locked at the BIOS level. I know how stressful that can be.
 

For this specific situation, I do want to clarify an important point:

HP SpareKey / BIOS Unlock Support Is Limited

For any BIOS-level lock involving SpareKey or administrator password protection, HP cannot provide an SMC.bin file or any remote unlock method through public support channels.

This is because BIOS security is designed to protect the device from unauthorized access, and generating an unlock file requires mandatory in-person verification.

Next Step: HP Authorized Service

To proceed, the laptop must be checked by an HP Authorized Service Center or HP Repair Center.
They will verify ownership and perform the BIOS reset onsite.
Please note:

  • This is a chargeable service, as BIOS password resets are not covered under warranty.
  • The device must be physically inspected; remote unlock is not possible.
  • Once they verify the device ownership, they will be able to unlock it safely.
