HP ProBook 650 G2 Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

Recently I installed Windows 10 on my Laptop and got updates for my laptop once windows was installed however, the updates download a BIOS update as well which was out dated so as soon as it was installed I realized my BIOS was password locked which I never set it up.

Now whenever I start my Laptop It asks me to enter the password that the BIOS update can be installed.

Please help me with this issue I want the password to be reset.

Hello @Kevin540 ,

If you are encountering a BIOS password prompt on your HP ProBook 650 G2 Notebook PC after a BIOS update and you didn't set a password yourself, here are some steps you might consider taking:

  1. Check Documentation: Refer to any documentation or materials that came with your laptop. Sometimes, a default password might be provided.

  2. Contact HP Support: The most reliable way to resolve a BIOS password issue is to contact HP Support. They will be able to guide you through the process of resetting the BIOS password. You may need to provide proof of purchase to verify ownership of the device.

  3. Reset BIOS Settings: Some HP laptops have a method to reset the BIOS settings to default. This often involves opening the laptop case and using a jumper on the motherboard or removing the CMOS battery. This should only be attempted if you are knowledgeable about hardware, as it could void your warranty or cause further issues.

  4. Use HP Support Assistant: Ensure you are using all available HP tools and support options. HP Support Assistant may provide additional guidance or direct you to the applicable support channels.

  5. Local Service Centers: As a last resort, consider taking your laptop to a reputable service center that handles HP devices.

For further assistance, I recommend reaching out to HP directly or visiting their support website. They will have the most tailored solution for your specific situation and device model.

Thank You!
