BIOS PASSWORD RESET

HP Recommended
HP EliteBook 840 G1
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I have an HP EliteBook 840 G1, Serial number > [Personal Information Removed].

I forgot the BIOS Password I had set in 2018 on my PC and I have tried using SpareKey feature; which turned up, I never registered for that before. I have also tried taking out CMOS battery but to no avail. I am hoping with the compatible SMC.BIN file will do the Job.

Anyone with the file to share [personal information removed] will highly be appreciated.

@SecondMaku

You're out of luck -- and you should have recorded the BIOS password while you knew it.  IT's too late now.

HP no longer distributes those files and it is against Community forum policy here for anyone else to provide you those files because that is bypassing security restrictions.

For BIOS or power-on password resets, because the password is encoded onto a chip on the motherboard, replacement of that motherboard is required. HP does not reset the BIOS password on the current motherboard.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard, you would have to take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we can not assist in that in any way.
